Turkish distraction for crisis in the Aegean?

According to the Arabic channel Orient (أورينت), the Turkish regime of Erdogan is preparing a new hybrid attack against Greece, with the creation of a caravan of 40,000 “refugees/immigrants” that will move towards Germany via the Evros, in a repeat of the events of 2020.

The recent Turkish operations with immigrants on the Evros islets are probably a kind of “warm-up” for the plan that Erdogan is preparing to implement to expel the Syrian immigrants from Turkish territory, due to Turkish reactions and presidential elections.

All we are waiting for is to verify or deny the information of the Syrian channel about Evros, while already thousands of Syrian immigrants are forcibly returning to Northern Syria, with their number constantly growing.

According to circles of the Ministry of National Defense, for at least the last two months the Turkish authorities have been carrying out a wide operation of “hybrid warfare” against us along the Evros River, transporting from the Turkish hinterland – organized and based on a plan – small groups of immigrants, which initially they gather in accommodation structures near the border line and then place them on the islets of Evros, testing the reactions of our country.

What worries the Greek side the most is the manifestation of a coordinated provocation by the Turkish authorities, through the placement of migrants on islands of their own or “disputed” sovereignty, seeking the intervention of the Greek authorities to rescue them, an intervention which Ankara could qualify as an “invasion on Turkish soil” causing from scratch a major crisis between the two countries.

The low level of the Evros during the summer season and the existence of islets that “create” and “disappear” depending on the flow of the river, have the effect of bringing back the issue of who has sovereignty over each of them from the Turkish side . Unofficially, however, there is still unconfirmed information, which speaks of “the shipment of Turkish arms/ammunition to Russia”, and this translates for Greece into full harmonization of the Turks in the Russia-Iran-China axis in the next period, which is perceived as a “harbinger of possible serious developments” in the Aegean and Evros.
