“Alert” in Nicosia and Athens: Information that the Turkish drilling rig will move into the Cypriot EEZ

Sources from Nicosia express the belief that the alert for the Turkish drilling rig “Abdulhamit Khan” has not ended.

Ankara’s new drilling rig, it was found, initially started working inside the Turkish continental shelf. Ankara’s defiant tones, however, do not allow complacency in Athens and Nicosia, as it insists on questioning the sovereign rights of the Aegean, with extreme references to the Asia Minor Disaster.

Information: The drilling rig will “step” into the Cypriot EEZ

A publication of the Cypriot newspaper Phileleftheros states that Ankara intends to start “games” with the drilling rig inside the Cypriot EEZ.

“The second trip of the new Turkish drilling rig, Abdulhamit Khan, will, according to information, be in the Cypriot EEZ, specifically at the border of sea blocks 6 and 7 in their northern part,” the report states. The “Liberal” points out that Ankara has data that confirms the existence of natural gas deposits in this area and that Erdogan’s plan “is on the one hand to expand by implementing the… vision of the “Blue Homeland” and at the same time that the drilling works” .

According to the same publication, it is now clear that when Erdogan claims that Turkey will become an energy hub, he means it. “And this means that he is also looking for “his” natural gas. It should be noted that the Turkish President recently referred to the fact that by 2023 Turkey will have found natural gas and oil. The reference to 2023 is not accidental, it is a year of elections and big celebrations for the 100 years of the Turkish state”, points out the “Liberal” of Cyprus.
