The Turkish Minister of Defense, answering questions from journalists after the Turkish Cabinet, chaired by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, underlined that “it is the most natural right of Turkey to conduct operations in terms of international law and self-defense for the security of our country and the our borders”.
“What is important to us is to protect the rights and interests of our country and we are determined to do so,” he said.
In response to the question of whether there was harassment from Greece regarding the Turkish drilling rig, Hulusi Akar stated that the Abdul Hamid Khan continues its investigations while, as he underlined, the Turkish frigate “Gediz” accompanies it “and ensures its safety”.
“We hope they don’t do it (the Greeks made the mistake). We maintain good neighborly relations by protecting the rights and interests of our country using our skills and abilities,” noted the Turkish Defense Minister.
