“AEGEAN SEAL” is an INVITEX type exercise organized by the Navy
From Monday 10 to Saturday 22 October 2022, the multinational exercise “AEGEAN SEAL 22-I” took place in the wider maritime area of the southern Euboean Gulf.
The exercise in question was conducted by the Undersea Disaster Management (SDM) of the Fleet Headquarters and had as its main subject Naval Special Operations and specifically the Very Shallow Water (VSW) Minesweeping and Mine Disposal – Improvised Explosive Device (EOD/C-IED) pre-landing operations ).
Mine Action Teams with personnel from Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Latvia and Poland participated in the joint training.
In addition, to carry out the objects of the exercise, helicopters of the Naval Aviation Command (NAC) and the 4th Army Aviation Helicopter Battalion (4th TEAS) were made available.
As part of monitoring the activities of the exercise, on Wednesday October 12, 2022, the Chief of the Fleet, Vice Admiral Panagiotis Lymberis PN, went to the Naval Base of South Euboikos (NBNE), where he was informed by the Commander of the Defense Forces, Vice Admiral Konstantinos Nasopoulos PN.
“AEGEAN SEAL” is an INVITEX-type exercise organized by the Navy, while it includes the above special training items, giving particular emphasis to the use of unmanned vehicles (UAV) and modern means.
The conducted exercise contributed to advancing the level of operational readiness, combat capability, cooperation and interoperability of the participants in an allied context.
